Spoiler alert: DJI Zenmuse X7 is obscene cinematic 6K camera [specs and images]

Are you excited for tonight’s DJI event? We’ll have live coverage here so come back at 5PM PT/8PM ET.

But…Spoiler alert: we have what we think are some images and specs of what is to be revealed. We saw a sneak peak earlier this week but this is the real deal. Only click below if you don’t mind knowing a lot about the sick new DJI Zenmuse X7 cinematic 6K camera…

A tipster has sent us information on the Zen Muse X7 6K camera DJI will announce tonight. It is pretty impressive and just writing about it makes me want to take out my wallet. Price however is unknown as of this writing but probably in the “if you have to ask” range.

The Zenmuse X7  standout feature is up to 6K video recording at 30fps, a 35mm sensor, and compatibility with four different DL-Mount lenses in 16mm, 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm formats. The Zen Muse X7 6K will initially be on the Inspire but is expected to make it downmarket into lower cost DJI drones.

The Zenmuse X7 comes with a Super 35mm (23.5×15.7 mm) sensor, and increases the individual pixel size to 3.91 micrometers for better light capturing ability. The X7 captures RAW videos at up to 6K/30 fps or 3.9K/59.94 fps and photos at up to 24 MP.

One of the most important features of any camera with professional aspirations is its dynamic range. The larger sensor in the DJI Zenmuse X7 should make a lot of filmmakers and photographers happy as it provides up to 14 stops dynamic range and image processing for Cinema DNG / Apple ProRes. The CineCore 2.1 Image Processing System is just like the Zenmuse X5S, so for current Inspire 2 owners, the X7 will be a smooth upgrade.

Specs are described as having the following:

  • 3 Axis Stabilized Gimbal & Camera
  • 35mm Image Sensor
  • DL Lens Mount

Resolution:

  • Up to 6k 30fps video
  • 24MP Raw DNG still images

Recording Formats:

  • Cinema DNG
  • Apple ProRes
  • h.264
  • h.265
  • DNG
  • JPEG
