Scottish gang films themselves as they prepare to fly drugs into prison

In a less than genius move, a Scottish gang filmed themselves with the drone, they were going to use to fly drugs into prison. The drone crashed on the prison grounds and was picked up by a guard who found all the incriminating footage, including faces, a house number and a car that belonged to them.

The drone was actually filming

Apparently, Paul Reilly, 32 and Michael Martin, 34, were unaware that the drone was recording them as they were loading £3,000 worth of drugs onto the unmanned aircraft. The drugs were later flown into Perth Prison by drone. However, it crashed inside the prison and was later recovered by guards who also found the video footage.

The 18-minute-long, incriminating video footage was played in court and showed the faces of the duo as well as their house number and a car that belonged to them. Both Reilly and Martin were quickly identified from the footage, and are facing jail time.

PC Nicholas Schembri said:

“I don’t think they were aware the drone was actually filming at that time. I’m assuming he was looking at the drone to check if it was on, if it was functioning. “He was maybe making sure it was properly set-up. From the footage I viewed you could see clearly a tattoo on his neck.”
