Review: The Jackery Explorer 200, portable and powerful!

When I look at all the different pieces of equipment I use, I realize almost all of them need charging every single day. Normally this is not a big deal, but when I’m traveling, it is quite a challenge to keep everything fully charged. That’s where the Jackery Explorer 200 comes in. This power bank gives you all the connections to keep your drone, laptop, phone and other devices powered up, multiple times over. Jackery sent me the Explorer 200 to review and after having used it for the last couple of weeks, I really like it. This bad boy will be coming with me on any future trip I’ll be making.

The Jackery Explorer 200

The Jackery Explorer 200 is a compact (roughly the size of a book, but heavier) portable power bank that will allow you to keep all your devices powered up. It takes about 7 to 8 hours to fully charge the Explorer 200 itself, but it will be good to charge most of your devices several times over. I used it to charge my laptop, 4 batteries for my Mavic Pro, the Osmo Mobile and my iPhone and it did great.

Using the device is pretty straightforward. You plug it in to charge or you can use one of the optional solar panels if you want to be totally self-sufficient. Once charged the Jackery Explore 200 offers you various ports that you can use, a USB-C (output 5V, 3A), 2x USB (output 5V, 2.4A), Car Port (output 13.3V, 10A) to charge your equipment.

The Jackery Explorer 200 has an LED screen that will show you how much power (percentage) is still available. The power bank comes in a nice matte black and scratch resistant metal material. It is compact, durable and even splash-proof, so if you’re going on a camping trip, or fly your drone away from your car or any other power outlets, the Explorer 200 power bank can help you extend your flight time.

The Jackery Explorer 200 comes with a 2-year warranty and is designed to be safe with premium thermoplastic materials, safety checks and battery management technology. It normally retails for $299 but can now be bought at Amazon for $199.

DroneDJ’s take

Would I recommend the Jackery Explorer 200? Yes, I would. Especially at $199, it is priced very competitively and for charging the batteries for my Mavic Pro, the Car Port is very convenient. If you look at some of the competition, Anker, for instance, you will find either smaller, less powerful power banks that do not offer the Car Port or you have to upgrade to the Anker PowerHouse. The PowerHouse offers you a whole lot more in both capacity and connections but is also priced much higher at $499. The Jackery Explorer 200 slots right in between and allows you to charge your Phantom and Mavic batteries with the DJI Car Charger.
