The Xiaomi Fimi X8 SE ($499) is an excellent looking foldable drone and it should compete directly with the DJI Mavic Air, Parrot Anafi , and Hubsan Zino. The new Fimi X8 SE features a 4K camera on a full three-axis gimbal. With a variety of intelligent GPS flight modes, the newest Fimi drone from Xiaomi looks to be some serious competition for DJI.

Xiaomi Fimi X8 SE

The Xiaomi Fimi X8 SE is the second new and exciting drone we’ve seen from Xiaomi recently. Their Fimi A3 is a small drone with a 1080p camera on a two-axis gimbal. The A3 model looks to be a competitor to the Spark with its $275 price tag. Now Xiaomi has set their sights on the Mavic Air with the Fimi X8 SE model.

The Xiaomi X8 SE features a 5000-meter range and a 33 minute flight time. These are impressive numbers for a $499 drone. The 33 minute flight time is even better than the impressive Mavic 2. It is capable of 4K video at 30 fps with a 100 Mbps. It also capable of shooting F-log and DNG raw. The 12 MP camera has a Sony IMX378 1/2.3″ sensor.

It has a plethora of intelligent flight modes including hyperlapse, panoramas, image tracking, and waypoints. The X8 also has a handful of Cineshots including circle, rocket, dronie and spiral. It is also capable of 3x digital zoom.

Like the Mavice Air, the Fimi X8 also features a compact and foldable design. It is an ultraportable drone that weighs less than 2 pounds (790 grams). When folded up it is only slightly bigger than a large smartphone. It promises to be quieter and more capable than Xiaomi’s original 4K Mi drone.

Xiaomi redesigned the Fimi X8 remote and it will accommodate both smartphones and tablets so you can view a live HD video feed while you are flying the drone.

This is an exciting new drone from Xiaomi and is available for preorder on Banggood.
