At $39 it is not inexpensive, but for anybody who plans to use the Osmo Pocket outside, it is a must.

Here are two good videos showing you why you need to use the DJI Osmo Pocket 5.3mm adapter and a quick test of a number of microphones you can use. The Rode Videomicro is a great microphone but as you can see it is still too big and complicated to use with the Osmo Pocket. Personally, I really like the Saramonic SR-XM1 3.5mm TRS Omnidirectional Microphone ($24.95) as it is small and fits the Osmo pocket much better.
