FlytBase, Skyqraft partner to improve power grid uptime with autonomous drones

Enterprise drone autonomy software platform FlytBase is joining forces with Skyqraft, a visual data analytics provider for the grid infrastructure, to enable autonomous power grid asset management.

FlytBase’s autonomy software empowers users to execute fully automated beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drone operations via drone-in-a-box systems that are managed from remote command centers.

The platform ensures safe, repeatable data collection and seamlessly integrates with BVLOS hardware and software, such as parachutes, detect-and-avoid systems, uncrewed traffic management, and weather systems. Additionally, FlytBase offers advanced mission planning capabilities, dynamic route planning, and tailored flight workflows to meet regulatory standards.

Skyqraft, meanwhile, converts drone-captured images into actionable insights, arming
power grid stakeholders with timely, crucial data. The company merges machine learning with human-assured quality checks and delivers precise asset data, either visualized on the platform or transferred to an asset management system. Every component, from utility poles to individual insulator discs and their bolts, is detailed for grid upkeep, asset investments, and environmental considerations like vegetation control.

As such, Skyqraft and FlytBase can together provide a comprehensive solution for grid owners, helping them detect defects, manage assets, and maximize energy output. Nitin Gupta, founder and CEO of FlytBase, explains, “Our partnership with Skyqraft aims to offer transmission and distribution industries a highly automated drone-based inspection platform. The aim is to simplify and streamline autonomous flight operations while providing critical insights that will improve power grid operation and maximize energy output.”
