DJI has rolled out a new firmware update for its ultra-portable selfie drone Neo. The update elevates the capabilities of the palm takeoff and landing aircraft with enhanced positioning performance.
Updates for compatible DJI controllers, FPV goggles, and the DJI Fly App accompany aircraft firmware version 01.00.0300. The new software package addresses some known issues while focusing on refining Neo’s positioning technology. This is important because precise positioning can make all the difference in capturing breathtaking footage or executing the one-click maneuvers that make the $199 DJI Neo the easiest and most convenient 4K video drone to fly today.
As DroneDJ readers know, DJI has designed Neo to help new drone users fly with style and capture hassle-free photos and videos. The 135g drone can be piloted using one-button QuickShots or voice control which is enabled with the “Hey Fly” command.
Neo’s algorithms, meanwhile, keep the subject front and center of the frame. Whether cycling, skateboarding or hiking, captivating shots can be created with ease. Additional creativity can be achieved by taking advantage of Neo’s QuickShots, which has six intelligent shooting modes, offering a range of different recording angles.
DJI emphasizes the importance of restarting all devices — including the aircraft, remote controller, and goggles — post-update to ensure the new firmware functions correctly. Users are also advised to note any previous flight parameters, as the update may reset settings like altitude and maximum flight distance.
