DJI is ending support for Mavic Pro Platinum drone

DJI has announced it will discontinue support for the Mavic Pro Platinum drone and its accessories starting April 1, 2025. The company attributes this decision to the natural lifecycle of electronic products and its commitment to advancing cutting-edge technologies.

Launched in 2017, the Mavic Pro Platinum captured the hearts of drone enthusiasts with its innovative design, quieter flight, and improved battery life compared to its predecessor, the Mavic Pro. The drone’s 30-minute flight time and noise reduction of up to 60% made it a favorite among creators looking for portability without compromising performance. Its 4K camera, 3-axis gimbal, and compact foldable design were industry-leading at the time, setting new standards for consumer drones.

In a statement, DJI explains, “Because electronic products are affected by technological developments and changes in usage requirements, each generation of products has a fixed life cycle. To continuously provide premium product and service experiences, DJI regularly optimizes resource allocations to promote new products and technologies.”

After April 1, 2025, the tech giant will no longer entertain product inquiries or offer technical support or maintenance services for the Mavic Pro Platinum. While this may inconvenience some users, DJI recommends upgrading to newer models to benefit from advanced features and continued support. Recent drones, such as the DJI Air 3 and Mavic 3 series, offer enhancements like improved cameras, extended flight times, and obstacle avoidance, ensuring users have access to the latest innovations.

For many, the Mavic Pro Platinum represents a pivotal moment in consumer drone history. Its retirement marks the end of an era, but also a chance to embrace newer, more capable technology.

If you’re still flying a Mavic Pro Platinum, now might be the time to explore DJI’s modern lineup to ensure you remain equipped with the latest tools for your aerial adventures.
