DJI has dropped a killer firmware update (v01.06.08.04) for the Osmo Pocket 3 vlogging camera, packing a powerful new zoom mode, smoother focus transitions, and pro-level color upgrades. Whether you’re a vlogger, filmmaker, or just love shooting crisp, cinematic videos, this update makes the Pocket 3 even harder to resist. Here’s what’s new…
Med-Tele Mode: Bringing subjects closer
One of the standout additions is the new Med-Tele mode. This feature allows users to achieve a 2x magnified mid-telephoto view, equivalent to a 40mm focal length, all while maintaining pristine 4K ultra-high-definition resolution. Unlike traditional digital zoom, which can degrade image quality, Med-Tele mode significantly enhances image resolution, preserving intricate texture details. This makes it ideal for capturing subjects at a distance without compromising on clarity. To activate this mode, simply tap the <> icon at the bottom of the screen in Video mode. However, note that in Med-Tele mode, the maximum ISO is set to 1600, and ActiveTrack is not supported.

Breathing Compensation: Smooth focus transitions
Addressing a common challenge in videography, DJI has introduced a breathing compensation feature. When enabled, this function corrects changes in the field of view caused by shifts in focus distance during recording. The result is a more stable and visually pleasing experience, especially during focus pulls or when tracking moving subjects. This enhancement ensures that your footage maintains a consistent composition, elevating the overall production quality.
D-Log M (10-bit) in Webcam Mode: Professional-grade color
For those utilizing the Pocket 3 as a webcam, the addition of the D-Log M (10-bit) color option is a game-changer. This feature provides a wider dynamic range and greater color depth, offering more flexibility in post-production color grading. Whether you’re streaming, video conferencing, or recording content, this professional-grade color profile ensures your visuals are vibrant and true to life.
Enhanced DJI Mimo app: Seamless user experience
This update also corresponds with improvements to the DJI Mimo app, now updated to version 2.2.2 for both iOS and Android users. One notable enhancement is the background download capability, allowing users to continue using the app while files are being transferred, thus streamlining the workflow. Additionally, the app now introduces the ability to take video screenshots and save them as static photos or live photos. This feature’s availability depends on the system versions of devices from manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, and OPPO.
In addition to these exciting new features, DJI has also addressed various minor bugs to enhance the overall stability and performance of the Osmo Pocket 3. These refinements ensure a smoother and more reliable user experience, allowing creators to focus on capturing their vision without technical interruptions.
