DJI has rolled out an exciting new firmware update (v01.02.00.00) for its latest full-feature camera gimbal, the RS 4 Mini.
Weighing just 2 lbs, the RS 4 Mini is designed for creators on the move. Despite its compact size, it supports payloads up to 4.4 lbs, accommodating a range of mirrorless cameras and smartphones. The gimbal’s key features include:
- Extended battery life: Up to 13 hours of operation, ensuring longevity during shoots.
- Automated axis locks: Facilitating quick setup and transitions between shooting modes.
- Intelligent tracking module: Offers subject tracking with gesture controls, allowing for dynamic shots without manual adjustments.
- Vertical shooting capability: Easily switch to vertical orientation, catering to social media content creation.

What’s new in the firmware update?
- Sleep Mode activation: Users can now enter sleep mode by double-pressing the power button, even with all three axis unlocked. This feature allows for quick pauses during shoots without the need for full shutdowns.
- Bluetooth reset support: The update introduces the ability to reset Bluetooth connections directly from the gimbal, streamlining the pairing process with devices.
- Optimized ActiveTrack performance: Improvements have been made to the ActiveTrack feature, ensuring more reliable subject tracking, especially when shooting from high or low angles.
- Bug fixes: Several known issues have been addressed, enhancing overall system stability.
To apply the update, ensure the DJI Ronin app is updated to version 1.9.0 or above on your iOS or Android device. Connect the RS 4 Mini via Bluetooth through the app and follow the on-screen instructions.
Do note that post-update, motor parameters will reset. It’s essential to auto-calibrate the gimbal to maintain optimal performance.
