DJI challenges Insta360 with new Osmo 360 camera

DJI has officially joined the 360 camera game — and it’s doing so with a bang. The all-new Osmo 360, the company’s first 360-degree camera, is now available to preorder in the US.

The Standard Combo is going to be available for $549.99, while the Adventure Combo, which includes extra accessories like an invisible selfie stick and multifunctional battery case, will be going for $699.99. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to upgrade your 360 setup, this is it.

The Osmo 360 is DJI’s first dedicated 360 camera — and it looks like the company used the wait time wisely. Designed with pro-level creators and adventurous storytellers in mind, this tiny powerhouse packs:

  • 1-inch square HDR sensors (a first for 360 cameras)
  • Native 8K/30fps 360-degree video with an incredible 100-minute recording time
  • 8K/50fps ultra-high frame rate video
  • And 120MP stills that capture every pixel of the moment

This puts it squarely ahead of the competition. While Insta360’s flagship X5 (also $549.99) also features dual 1-inch sensors and excellent 8K/30fps video, DJI ups the ante with 8K/50fps capability, larger 2.4μm pixels, longer battery life, and an innovative square sensor design that maximizes light intake and reduces power consumption.

New: DJI adds mirror mode, Osmo 360 color grading to Mimo app

Beyond the sensor specs, DJI has loaded the Osmo 360 with creator-friendly tools:

  • Invisible Selfie Stick that vanishes from your videos
  • Gesture and Voice Control for hands-free shooting
  • HorizonSteady and RockSteady 3.0 for butter-smooth stabilization
  • GyroFrame and Intelligent Tracking to follow your subject in every direction
  • Single-Lens Mode that turns the 360 camera into a 5K/60fps action cam

Need slo-mo? You’ve got 4x slow motion and 4K/100fps video. Want to travel light? The camera only weighs 183g and includes 105GB of internal storage. Shooting in the cold? No problem — it runs even in -4°F (-20°C).

Battery life is where the Osmo 360 really flexes. You’ll get 100 minutes of 8K shooting on a single charge, and you can extend that up to 180 minutes with the optional Battery Extension Rod. And if you’re in a rush, the camera reaches 50% battery in just 12 minutes.

DJI’s OsmoAudio lets you plug in two DJI Mic transmitters directly — no receiver needed. And when it’s time to edit, you’ve got access to the intuitive DJI Mimo app or the more advanced DJI Studio, plus Premiere plugins for pros.

DJI’s Osmo 360 isn’t just packed with features — it’s also hard to find right now. Not every major retailer is expecting stock, but once they do, preorders will be the first to ship.
