DJI has rolled out a new firmware update for the Mini 5 Pro, and while it isn’t packed with flashy new features, it’s still one you’ll want to install before your next flight.
The latest release updates the aircraft to firmware v01.00.0700, alongside matching firmware for supported remote controllers and DJI Fly app v1.21.4 on both iOS and Android. The official changelog is about as brief as they come: “Fixed some known issues.” But if you’ve been waiting for the right time to pick up DJI’s newest flagship mini drone, the timing is interesting because all Mini 5 Pro bundles are currently 10% off.
Small updates like this signal that DJI is continuing to polish what is already one of the company’s most capable compact drones. If you already own a Mini 5 Pro, the update process is straightforward. Just make sure you’re running DJI Fly v1.21.4 or later, since the latest firmware requires the updated app.
DJI also notes that camera settings will be reset after installation, so it’s worth checking your preferred resolution, frame rate, color profile, and exposure settings before taking off again. If the update fails, simply restart the aircraft, controller, and DJI Fly app and try again.
The firmware itself may be modest, but the drone certainly isn’t.
The Mini 5 Pro packs features that, until recently, were reserved for much larger and more expensive drones. Its biggest upgrade is a 50MP 1-inch CMOS sensor paired with an f/1.8 aperture, giving creators noticeably better low-light performance and richer image quality than previous Mini models. It also records up to 4K/120fps video and supports 10-bit color for users who like to grade their footage later.
Safety has also taken a major leap forward. DJI added Nightscape omnidirectional obstacle sensing, combining a forward-facing LiDAR sensor with multiple vision sensors to help the drone detect obstacles even in dim lighting. That makes evening flights considerably less stressful, especially for newer pilots. The upgraded ActiveTrack 360° system is smarter, too, automatically recognizing different tracking scenarios and keeping subjects framed more naturally.
Another standout feature is the redesigned gimbal. It now supports 225-degree rotation and true vertical shooting, making it easy to capture Instagram Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts without awkward cropping later. Whether you’re filming hikes, vacations, family outings, or cycling adventures, that’s one less step in the editing process.
Portability remains one of the Mini 5 Pro’s biggest selling points. The foldable drone slips easily into a backpack, yet still delivers up to 36 minutes of flight time on the standard battery, or as much as 52 minutes with the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus. DJI has also built 42GB of internal storage into the aircraft, meaning you can keep shooting even if you forget your microSD card at home.
It’s no surprise, then, that many reviewers consider it one of the best compact camera drones available today thanks to its combination of image quality, intelligent flight features, and portability.
