Compact drones continue to dominate the consumer market, and Potensic is using IFA 2026 to show why its latest model deserves a spot on buyers’ shortlists. The drone maker has returned to the annual Berlin technology show for the third consecutive year, putting the spotlight squarely on its Atom 3 camera drone, and its long list of features aimed at travelers, outdoor adventurers, and first-time aerial creators.
Rather than unveiling an entirely new product, Potensic is leveraging one of the world’s biggest consumer electronics events to introduce more people to the Atom 3, which launched earlier this summer. For shoppers in the US keeping an eye on the growing lightweight drone category, the drone is worth a closer look, especially as alternatives to DJI continue to attract attention.
Weighing less than 249 grams, the Atom 3 falls into the same ultra-lightweight class as popular beginner drones like the DJI Mini series. That makes it easy to toss into a backpack before heading out on a road trip, hike, or vacation without adding much weight.
The camera is one of the biggest highlights. Potensic has equipped the Atom 3 with a 1/1.3-inch image sensor paired with a dual-focal 48mm camera, allowing pilots to switch between sweeping landscape shots and tighter compositions without changing aircraft. It also records 4K video at 60 frames per second with HDR, helping preserve details in scenes with bright skies and darker foregrounds.
For creators shooting travel videos or social media content, those specs put the Atom 3 firmly in the conversation alongside other premium compact drones.
Flight performance also looks competitive. Potensic says the drone can stay airborne for up to 40 minutes on a single battery, while a 16-kilometer video transmission range gives pilots plenty of flexibility when flying in open areas and within local regulations.
Another standout addition is AI Follow 2.0, which automatically tracks moving subjects. Whether you’re cycling, hiking, jogging, or simply filming family outings, the feature is designed to keep the camera locked on the action without requiring another person to operate the controls. Intelligent tracking has become one of the most sought-after capabilities in consumer drones, making it easier for solo creators to capture dynamic footage.
At IFA, Potensic is presenting the ATOM 3 under the theme “See Beyond,” encouraging creators to experiment with fresh perspectives and aerial storytelling. While the event gives the company valuable exposure, it’s the hardware itself that could attract the most attention from buyers looking for a capable sub-250-gram drone without stepping into the premium price tiers.
