In a series of price hikes, DJI now also increased the price on the Phantom 4 Pro/Advanced Remote Controller (Includes Display) to $749. The raise applies to both the regular controller as well as the Obsidian black one. We have contacted various sources within our network and they all tell us the same. As a result of the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China, DJI was forced to increase the prices on a number of their products. The first price hike we noticed was on the Mavic 2 Fly More Kit and a number of accessories. The second on impacted the Mavic 2 Pro.
DJI Phantom 4 controller price increase
The first price hike happened about two weeks ago when we noticed that DJI had raised the price on the Mavic 2 Fly More Kit. The price was raised substantially from $319 to $379. In that same move, the Chinese drone maker also raised the price on a number of accessories, such as batteries and propellers. Then we had the second price increase on the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. That price was raised from $1,449 to $1,499. Now we learn that the pice of the Phantom 4 Pro/Advanced Remote Controller (Includes Display), the regular white one and the Obsidian black one has been raised to $749.
DJI’s official response
We had reached out to DJI before and this is their explanation on the sudden price increase.
“DJI regularly reviews its product strategy and pricing structure for its drones, handheld products and accessories. Price adjustments enable us to produce high-quality, cutting-edge technology according to our standard of innovation.
With the global launch of the Mavic 2 series, the newly introduced Fly More Kit was set at $319 USD. Starting today, the US retail price will be adjusted to $379. Similar price adjustments are being implemented in all our global markets. For customers who require additional batteries, propellers, chargers and a carrying case, the Fly More Kit remains the most ideal option with a significant cost savings. Prices of individual accessories will also be adjusted accordingly.

Even though DJI does not mention the price increases were made as a result of the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China, conversations we’ve had with various DJI stores and retailers indicate otherwise.
Update – DJI has sent us the following response:
“We’ve updated the recommended retail price for this product in the United States based on changes to tariff rates. DJI takes many factors into account when setting recommended retail prices for customers in different countries around the world, including tariff applications, tax rates and currency exchange fluctuations. DJI will continue providing detailed guidance for its sales channel partners on how to comply with import regulations as the new tariffs take effect.”
No word on any future price increases, but I suspect today’s increase will not be the last one…
Where to buy for less?
However, if you are really in need of a Phantom 4 Pro/Advanced Remote Controller (Includes Display), then you can still get one at the ‘old’ price at the following retailers: Amazon ($569), B&H ($599). Better hurry up because Adorama already increased their price on the controller.
