Mavic 2 case from Go Professional Cases – We put it to the test

The Mavic 2 was released just a few weeks ago, and already there is no shortage of cases on the market for the new Mavic 2 ($1,249~$1499). The Mavic 2 case from Go Professional Cases (GPC) is one of the first available that is fully ruggedized and waterproof. What sets this case apart from the rest? The ability to pack all my Mavic 2 gear in a single case. It is also extremely durable, and can pass a series of US military-specified tests called “Mil-Specs.” My favorite feature? It is waterproof and it floats. I know because I tested it. Let’s take a closer look.

Packing the GPC Mavic 2 Case

This GPC case will hold either the Mavic 2 Zoom or the Mavic 2 Pro. How you use your case will depend a little bit on what gear you have and how you use it. The case is designed to hold up to 5 batteries, so if lots of flying is on your agenda, then you will want to use all of those battery slots. You can also convert one of those slots to hold part of a Mavic iPad holder. If you do this then you can still pack 4 batteries in your Mavic 2 case. You don’t fly with an iPad? You can also use an extra battery slot for the car charger that comes with the Mavic 2 Fly More Kit.

If you have a lot of batteries then this case won’t disappoint. In this method of packing the GPC Mavic 2 Case, I put 4 batteries as well as all the charging accessories I might need. 

Here is another way to pack the case that includes an iPad holder for my Mavic 2 remote as well as space for 3 to 4 batteries and all my charging gear.

Hidden Storage

What you see from the top of the Mavic 2 case is not all you get for storage. There are some secret storage compartments that add a lot of extra storage space. Under the drone is a pocket that can be used for part of the iPad holder or it can be used to store props, which is how I am using it. Under the multi-charging battery bank is more storage for props, cables, or other accessories. The best-hidden storage is under the primary foam insert. It is made accessible thanks to the straps on each side of the insert that let you lift it out of the case.

I have a folding landing pad, and I don’t tend to fly my Mavic with an iPad. So, instead of using the hidden space for an iPad, I will be using it for my landing pad that is available from Freewell on Amazon.

Is the GPC Mavic 2 Case Waterproof?

Yes, the Go Professional Case is definitely waterproof. I put it to the test. After 20 minutes underwater there wasn’t a drop that got inside the case. And you don’t need to worry about your case sinking to the bottom of the ocean either. It has a buoyancy of over 30 pounds but it weighs only about 10 pounds fully loaded. I had to work hard to get mine to stay underwater. So don’t worry, your Mavic 2 case won’t sink and your Mavic 2 ($1,249~$1499) won’t get wet.
