Why is the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 out of stock? Here’s DJI’s answer

Roughly two weeks ago we learned that the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 was out of stock on DJI’s official online store. This happened around the same time that the “Because Life is Big” event was announced so for a short time it seemed that a Phantom 4 replacement might be on the way. Now, we know that that wasn’t the case. Afterall DJI launched the DJI Osmo Pocket instead. But, what is the real story with the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0? We asked DJI and here’s what they told us.

Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 out of stock

In an email to DroneDJ, Adam Lisberg told us that:

“We have a shortage of parts from a supplier, which leaves us unable to manufacture more Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 drones until further notice. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause our customers, and we would urge them to look at drones in the Mavic series as an alternative in the meantime.”

As of this writing, there is no firm date for when the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 might be back in stock. As soon as it is though, we will be sure to share that news with you here on DroneDJ.

Now, the controller can still be bought on the DJI online store, but what good is a controller if you don’t have the drone.

So, where can you buy the Phantom 4 Pro?

Well, luckily there are plenty of options left for people to buy the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0. For instance, the retailers listed below should have one for you available:

Phantom 5 release?

What does this mean for the highly anticipated Phantom 5 release? Well, that is hard to say. With the video quality of the Phantom 4 Pro outperforming the Mavic 2 Pro there is no real threat yet for the Phantom. Neither is there from any of the competition. So, DJI could take their time and wait with the release of the Phantom 5 just a little longer. It is safe to say that it won’t happen anymore this year. Meaning that we are looking at early 2019 the soonest. Fwiw, the Mavic Air was released late January 2018. Just to show that DJI does not shy away from a mid-winter product release. Fingers crossed!

When do you think we will see the release of the Phantom 5? Take our poll and let us know.
