Thermal camera for the Mavic 2 Enterprise? A DJI Enterprise announcement

DJI Enterprise sent out a tweet today announcing the introduction of something new on December 17th, at 9 am EST. The accompanying image shows what seems to be a hot cup of coffee, taken with a thermal or infrared camera. There is also a bit of a cryptic message saying: “It’s going to be 🔥” Will it be a thermal camera for the Mavic 2 Enterprise?

A Thermal camera for the Mavic 2 Enterprise?

It was to be expected that DJI would come out with a thermal camera at some point. We assume that it will be for the recently launched DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise although we haven’t been able to confirm that as of yet. There is also a chance that the thermal camera may have been developed in partnership with FLIR Systems.

The DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise, that was launched during DJI Airworks 2018, currently ships with a loudspeaker, floodlight, and night-time strobe light. The obvious missing accessory for that drone was a thermal camera. It now seems that we will not have to wait long as the event is scheduled for upcoming Monday.

DJI Enterprise will make the official announcement on December 17th, at 9 am EST. There will be no DJI event this time.

Romeo Durscher, DJI’s Director of Public Safety Integration said:

“We continue to actively work on more solutions; solutions which help our customers in the field. Solutions which keep them saver. And solutions which continue to help save lives and properties. Because #DronesForGood”

Today, another image taken with a thermal camera was leaked by @OsitaLV, that seems to show the new DJI Osmo Pocket.
