Drone and search dog help find missing man on family farm

A drone and a search dog were used to help find a missing man in Garrard County, Kentucky. Garrard County Emergency Management credits the skills and use of drone technology of the first responders as it made it possible to quickly find the missing person last Monday. Another example of drones involved in search and rescue.

Search dog and drone help find missing man quickly

The concerned wife had contacted the emergency response service after not being able to locate her husband on their farm and he had not responded to her phone calls for more than an hour.

According to ABC36, the police, Camp Dick Fire Department, Emergency Management, and EMS personnel were all dispatched to the farm.

A ranger with a search dog was able to lock onto the husband’s sent and followed it through rough and steep terrain, leading to a creek. Footprints left behind by the missing husband in the creek soil showed what direction he had gone.

Next, to the search crews, the Camp Dick Fire Department had also used a drone in the search for the missing husband. He was quickly found and uninjured. The husband said he had not realized that he was reported missing.

The entire search operation lasted less than one hour and the missing husband was reunited with his wife and kids.
