Drone safety parachute maker eyes counter-drone solutions in strategic pivot

ParaZero, an Israel-based company that builds drone safety systems for commercial aircraft and urban air mobility vehicles, says it plans to develop anti-drone solutions. The pivot comes amid reports that counter-drone tech could become a $15 billion market by 2032.

Counter-drone tech incorporates various methods to detect, identify, and stop small drones, including cameras, specialized radars, net guns, and cyber takeover systems.

ParaZero says it is seeing a sharp increase in the demand for these anti-drone measures, especially from military outposts, correctional facilities, and large public venues. Moreover, the company has already received inquiries from various entities to explore entering this market.

As ParaZero CEO Boaz Shetzer explains that recent international conflicts have highlighted the extensive use of drones in various attacks and the critical necessity to counteract these strikes promptly with minimal damage. “We believe that ParaZero can provide a unique alternative to today’s conventional solutions and intend to start development without delay,” Shetzer says.

The good news is that ParaZero already has a few things going for it in this direction. First, there are specific elements within the company’s unique proprietary technology portfolio that can be utilized in anti-drone tech. In addition, its ability to rapidly design, develop, and manufacture advanced drone technologies puts ParaZero in a strong position to offer a competitive edge in defending against threats and attacks from small drones.

Shetzer says, “Our drone technology solutions leverage a distinct technology portfolio protected by global patents, that we have developed over the course of more than 10 years. We believe that this technology portfolio enables us to effectively counteract various threats posed by drones by rapidly developing bespoke C-UAS solutions for key clientele.”
