Japanese drone manufacturer ACSL has made a couple of exciting announcements today. The company has introduced a new thermal camera option for its SOTEN drones and also expanded its US team by appointing three leading industry figures to its advisory board.
Let’s talk about the new sensor first. The latest addition to ACSL’s drone lineup is a stabilized thermal camera, designed to enhance the versatility and performance of SOTEN drones. This new camera features a high-resolution 640×512 Boson sensor, stabilized by a 3-axis gimbal, and offers a 13.8mm focal length with a 32° horizontal field of view (HFOV).
The camera is capable of capturing video at 640×512 pixels with a smooth 60 Hz refresh rate, making it ideal for various field applications. Additionally, the camera’s electro-optical (EO) sensor can record 64MP photos and 4K video at 30 Hz, with a wide 67° HFOV.
The payload is designed for quick, one-touch swapping, compatible with ACSL’s SOTEN drones and other drone models. It will be available for purchase toward the end of 2024.
Meanwhile, the three experts who have joined ACSL’s advisory board include Ron Lopez, president of Astroscale; Stanley McHann, CTO at Sparkmeter; and Romeo Durscher, a drone industry veteran with experience at NASA and DJI. The trio brings extensive knowledge in drones and related industries, providing strategic guidance as ACSL aims to meet the growing demand for non-DJI drone solutions in the US.
Cynthia Huang, CEO of ACSL, emphasizes the importance of these developments, saying, “Our new thermal camera and advisory board appointments reflect our commitment to the US market.
