DJI Goggles just got better with INAV support for FPV drones

DJI has rolled out a major firmware update for its Goggles 3, Goggles 2, and Goggles Integra, introducing INAV on-screen display (OSD) support when used with the DJI O4 Air Unit or DJI O4 Air Unit Pro. This update brings advanced telemetry data and flight navigation capabilities to FPV drone pilots, enhancing real-time awareness and control.

What is INAV and why does it matter?

INAV (Navigation-enabled flight control software) is an open-source firmware designed to improve a drone’s navigational abilities. Unlike firmware that prioritizes extreme agility (like Betaflight), INAV focuses on autonomous flight features, waypoint navigation, and flight stability — all of which are game-changers for FPV pilots looking for more precision and safety.

With INAV integration in DJI’s latest firmware updates, pilots using Goggles 3, Goggles 2, and Goggles Integra now have access to:

  • Real-time telemetry data: View altitude, speed, GPS coordinates, and battery life directly in the goggles’ display.
  • Waypoint navigation: Plan and execute autonomous flight paths for smoother, more controlled flights.
  • Return-to-Home (RTH) enhancements: Improved RTH capabilities for safer landings, even in complex environments.

The update applies to three DJI Goggles models:

Each of these updates introduces INAV OSD support and fixes minor bugs, ensuring a smoother experience for FPV pilots using the DJI O4 Air Unit or DJI O4 Air Unit Pro.

To take advantage of this new functionality, follow these steps:

  1. Update the DJI Fly app (iOS and Android) to version 1.16.0 or above.
  2. Connect your DJI Goggles to the app.
  3. Follow the firmware update prompts for your specific goggles model.
  4. Restart all devices (goggles, drone, remote) after the update is complete.

Note that the firmware update may reset certain flight parameters like Return-to-Home altitude and Maximum Flight Distance. Be sure to reconfigure your preferred settings before flying.

This firmware update is a big win for DJI FPV pilots who want greater control and enhanced navigation tools. With INAV support now available across DJI Goggles 3, Goggles 2, and Goggles Integra, drone enthusiasts can fly smarter, safer, and with more confidence than ever before.
