DJI Inspire 3 gets first 90mm drone lens from Viltrox

Drone cinematography is getting a serious upgrade. Viltrox, known for its innovation in photography and cinema lenses, has taken to the skies with the release of its first-ever aerial lens, the AF 90mm F3.5 DL, built specifically for the DJI Inspire 3 drone.

For creators who fly with the Inspire 3, this is a big moment. Not only is the new Viltrox lens the first 90mm telephoto made for drones, it’s also optimized with a native DL mount, ensuring seamless integration with DJI’s professional ecosystem.

“We see this lens not just as a product, but as a declaration: Viltrox is now in the air,” says Kahn Wang of Viltrox. And they indeed are starting strong.

The 90mm F3.5 DL lens delivers a unique mid-telephoto perspective rarely seen in aerial footage. Filmmakers get strong spatial compression and smooth subject separation, opening the door to entirely new cinematic looks from the air. Think tighter framing, deeper depth, and shots that once required long dolly tracks or cranes.

For DJI Inspire 3 users, it’s a welcome addition that significantly expands their storytelling toolkit.

The lens weighs just 170 grams, making it light enough for stable gimbal operation while remaining robust enough to withstand the rigors of aerial work. Viltrox says it focused on lightweight design, optical clarity, and a gimbal-friendly structure, meaning no compromises in flight or image quality.

Engineered specifically for aerial conditions, the lens holds sharp focus across the frame, even when the Inspire 3 is flying fast or handling tricky maneuvers.

The DJI Inspire 3 has already set a new benchmark in drone cinematography. With this new $499 lens, the drone’s ecosystem gets a serious telephoto companion, allowing filmmakers, content creators, and directors of photography to explore long-range visual storytelling without sacrificing stability or clarity.
