New SentryCiv system hunts rogue drones before they cause trouble

Counter-uncrewed systems (CUxS) tech specialist DroneShield has announced the launch of SentryCiv, a next-generation solution aimed at helping civilian sectors protect critical infrastructure from the growing threat of malicious drones.

Unlike traditional counter-drone systems designed for military use, SentryCiv is tailored to the needs — and budgets — of airports, utilities, data centers, stadiums, government buildings, correctional facilities, and other high-risk civilian sites. The goal is to provide these sectors with a powerful, non-disruptive defense layer that detects and identifies drone threats in real time.

As drones become more capable and accessible, their potential misuse — whether for smuggling contraband, conducting espionage, or disrupting events — has made airspace security a pressing concern. SentryCiv offers a comprehensive, scalable approach to drone detection, giving operators the ability to respond quickly without halting daily operations.

The system integrates seamlessly with DroneShield’s Sentry-C2 Civ platform, delivering real-time alerts, customizable security zones, and the ability to log and share threat data. At its core is the proprietary DroneLocator technology, which can pinpoint the exact position of both the drone and its operator — going beyond standard Remote ID tracking.

SentryCiv’s Threat Detection-RFAI engine recognizes over 150 common drone models using encrypted signals without interfering with nearby communication systems. Plus, quarterly software updates ensure that the system keeps pace with the fast-moving drone industry, expanding detection capabilities and adding new features.

While many existing drone defense systems are too complex or expensive for non-military users, SentryCiv’s design reflects DroneShield’s experience in creating intuitive, cost-effective tools that integrate smoothly into existing security frameworks.

“Airspace security for critical infrastructure and public safety has never been more urgent,” says Tom Adams, DroneShield’s director of public safety. “SentryCiv represents our commitment to making advanced counter-drone solutions accessible and affordable for non-military sectors. This solution is a game-changer for industries like law enforcement, corrections, aviation, and utilities.”
