It’s release season again, and DJI has just teased another product the company will be announcing this Wednesday at 8:00 AM ET. While the company still wants to maintain secrecy ahead of the launch, we have a pretty good idea of what is coming, per leaks over the last couple of months.
DJI’s “Pro in Mini” release event, actually just a video and press releases at release time, showcases nothing but a small camera being assembled in the teaser video. However, it’s the same camera system we’ve come to know from DJI’s Mini line of drones, so that is what we expect to be released.
Although the images don’t leave much to the imagination, the camera gets assembled onto a mini drone’s body and shows some other details like the “1-inch” camera size, the 24mm camera lens focal length, and F1.8 aperture, confirming some longstanding rumors about the drone.
The Mini 5 Pro has been rumored for several months now. It is the successor to the Mini 4 Pro and will likely be an overall upgrade across the board in terms of specs with a handful of new features.
First, it’s 1-inch sensor, as mentioned earlier and confirmed by DJI’s tease; then, front-facing lidar for better forward obstacle avoidance. You can see these sensors in the teaser image/video.
The Mini series of drones has turned from an entry-level product into a premier, almost annually refreshed drone that can be used not just for fun but for professional jobs. While the Air and Mavic series of drones offer far larger camera sensors and more professional features, if you’re a real estate photographer or doing simple drone gigs, the Mini 4, and soon-to-be-announced Mini 5 Pros will do just fine.
