DJI Fly app update unlocks support for Mini 5 Pro

DJI has rolled out Fly app version 1.18.0, bringing one major addition: support for its newly launched Mini 5 Pro drone. Released today, this update officially makes the Mini 5 Pro compatible with remote controllers, including the DJI RC-N3, DJI RC 2, and DJI RC Pro 2. Pilots selecting one of those controllers will now be able to use the Fly app seamlessly with the newest drone to be added to the DJI Mini series.

The Mini 5 Pro is the latest entry in DJI’s ultra-portable drone lineup, and it’s turning heads for packing pro-level imaging into a body small enough to fit in your hand.

What makes it special is its world-first 1-inch CMOS sensor in a mini drone, capable of capturing 50MP photos and 4K/60fps HDR video with up to 14 stops of dynamic range. For slow-motion lovers, it can even record at 4K/120fps. A new 48mm Med-Tele mode helps subjects stand out, while DJI’s portrait optimization ensures natural-looking skin tones.

The gimbal introduces 225° roll rotation and true vertical shooting, giving users instant social-media-ready footage without awkward cropping. Safety is equally advanced, thanks to Nightscape omnidirectional obstacle sensing with forward LiDAR and vision sensors, making night flights and return-to-home more reliable.

Add in up to 52 minutes of flight time with the larger battery and enhanced ActiveTrack 360° for smoother subject tracking, and the Mini 5 Pro becomes a game-changer for anyone who wants professional-grade footage from a travel-friendly drone. And this is why it’s a bummer that the Mini 5 Pro isn’t officially available in the US due to ongoing geopolitical and customs issues.

But for the rest of the world, owners of compatible controllers (RC-N3, RC 2, RC Pro 2) can now pair their Mini 5 Pro and access its features via the DJI Fly app v1.18.0. That means provisioning for firmware updates, flight planning, media transfer, and the in-flight settings and safety features will be supported out of the box.
