Airwise and LiveU want to fix fragmented public safety drone workflows

Public safety agencies increasingly rely on drones for everything from fire response to search-and-rescue missions. But getting a drone into the air is only part of the challenge. Agencies also need to manage pilots and fleets, stay on top of airspace requirements, and make sure live video reaches the right people without delay.

LiveU and Airwise Solutions are teaming up to tackle that problem with an integrated technology stack designed to connect those pieces.

The partnership combines LiveU’s resilient, low-latency video transmission technology with Airwise’s drone fleet management, pilot management, airspace awareness, and video distribution capabilities. The goal is to give public safety teams a single workflow covering the operation from flight planning through live video delivery.

Today, agencies often have to stitch together systems from several vendors for connectivity, video, fleet management, and airspace compliance. Those systems may not have been designed to work together, creating additional complexity when an incident is already unfolding.

The LiveU-Airwise integration is designed to bring those functions into a more unified operational view. Airwise handles areas such as fleet and flight management, airspace compliance, and distributing video to stakeholders, while LiveU provides the connectivity needed to move that video reliably from the field.

For incident commanders, that could mean getting drone footage on command displays and mobile devices with less delay, while drone operators can concentrate on flying and the mission rather than managing multiple disconnected systems.

“Having a unified technology stack that seamlessly pairs LiveU’s bonded transmission with Airwise’s flight management makes an immediate impact on tactical operations,” says Gabe Graveline, EMS Officer and Robotics Coordinator at Tulsa Fire Department. He adds that the setup lets operators focus on the mission and airspace compliance while incident command receives live video.

The companies will put the integration on display at DRONERESPONDERS TEXCON 2026, scheduled for Oct. 19-22 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

During the demonstration, a drone mission will be managed through Airwise, including automated notifications to relevant stakeholders. LiveU’s IP-bonded connectivity will then transmit the drone’s live video to command displays and mobile devices, demonstrating the complete workflow.

For public safety agencies looking to expand drone operations, the partnership is essentially about reducing the number of moving parts. Instead of treating flight management, airspace awareness, and video transmission as separate systems, LiveU and Airwise want them to work as one.
