DJI’s smallest drone has just gotten cheaper over on Amazon. The DJI Neo, DJI’s cheapest drone, is for a short time having a $50 coupon code available on Amazon, bringing the price down to just $150. This follows an earlier price drop last month.
If you don’t know what the DJI Neo is, it’s DJI’s answer to other companies coming out with what are called “flying cameras.” These small drones are designed to be used without controllers and capture selfies, group photos, short videos, or follow you on your adventures. The current big player is Zero Zero Robotics with its HoverAir drone. Snapchat originally was the creator of this segment with its Pixy drone; however it lasted only a year before Snap ended it.
The DJI Neo was DJI’s first drone to be primarily controlled by hand or voice controls. It is also the smallest drone it offers on the market. Weighing in at just 135g, it’s also the lightest.
This small package and no controller needed means its price was just $199. Now with Amazon’s coupon, the price is just $149. All you need to do is check the coupon box before adding it to your cart and checking out. The drone is being listed by Hibikin-US, not DJI itself, but is being fulfilled by Amazon. This is a stress saver for those concerned about getting scammed due to the difficulty of purchasing DJI drones in the last year. This also means the DJI Neo can be shipped with Amazon Prime, getting the drone in a matter of days, not weeks.
The Amazon coupon code expires on March 25.
The benefit of the DJI Neo compared to other drones in this class is DJI’s accessory support and capable flight software. The industry knows DJI drones work well, and the self-flying features like QuickShots won’t put your drone in a tree.
However, my favorite part of the DJI Neo is that you aren’t stuck flying it with just your voice or hands; you can connect it to a controller for manual flight controls. The DJI Neo is even compatible with DJI’s FPV goggles and controllers for what could be DJI’s most versatile drone for the price.
Now this isn’t the DJI Neo 2, a drone for now not available in the US. But that doesn’t mean it’s not capable. What it does lack, added lidar front tracking and come camera spec changes, won’t change much if put in capable hands.
