The DJI Fly app has officially been updated to version 1.20.0, adding support for the newly launched Avata 360 drone. The update also confirms Avata 360’s compatibility with the DJI RC 2, DJI Goggles 3, and DJI Goggles N3.
The Avata 360 isn’t just another FPV drone — it’s only the second true 360-degree drone on the market right now, making this app update particularly significant. At the center of it all is the drone’s ability to capture full 360° footage in stunning 8K/60fps HDR using 1-inch-equivalent sensors. That means creators can shoot everything in one go and decide framing later, which is a huge shift from traditional drone workflows where composition has to be nailed mid-flight. And that’s where the DJI Fly app becomes essential.
The updated DJI Fly app doesn’t just let you control the drone; it’s now a powerful creative tool. With features like GyroFrame, users can reframe 360° footage directly in-app, adjusting angles after the fact to find the perfect shot. Add in one-tap editing tools and built-in camera movement effects, and suddenly a single flight can produce multiple polished clips.
There’s also a big push toward automation. Intelligent tracking features like Spotlight Free and ActiveTrack 360° make it easier to lock onto subjects — whether it’s a person, vehicle, or even a pet — and keep them perfectly framed, even in complex environments.
For newer pilots, FPV-style footage is now more accessible, too. A dedicated FPV mode can add dynamic motion effects in post-production, meaning you don’t need expert piloting skills to get dramatic, high-speed visuals.
The Avata 360 pairs these software capabilities with DJI’s O4+ transmission system, delivering a smooth 1080p/60fps live feed at distances up to 20 km. Combined with goggles and motion controllers, it creates a deeply immersive flying experience that feels closer to being in the cockpit than ever before.
With up to 23 minutes of flight time, omnidirectional obstacle sensing, and even a replaceable front lens, DJI is clearly aiming to make this drone both powerful and practical.
