The new DJI Avata 360 drone is arriving with a feature-rich day-one firmware update that significantly expands what this immersive FPV drone can do right out of the box. The initial firmware rollout, headlined by v01.00.0100 for the aircraft, arrives alongside updates for the entire ecosystem, including the DJI RC 2, DJI Goggles 3, and DJI FPV Remote Controller 3, as well as the latest DJI Fly app.

The DJI Fly app has officially been updated to version 1.20.0, adding support for the newly launched Avata 360 drone. The update also confirms Avata 360’s compatibility with the DJI RC 2, DJI Goggles 3, and DJI Goggles N3.

DJI has kicked off the global rollout of the Avata 360, positioning it as its most immersive consumer drone yet. In many parts of the world, that means orders are either already live or pre-sales have begun. In the US, though, things are playing out a little differently, again.

A newly updated banner on DJI’s official Amazon US storefront now points to March 30 at 8 a.m. EST as the release timing for its upcoming DJI Avata 360 drone, subtly overriding the March 26 worldwide launch window.

The first teaser was pure mystery. DJI released a short clip showing a drone flying aggressive first-person FPV lines through cityscapes. The footage was wild: fireworks exploding against the night sky, smooth dives and sweeping camera moves, and then a surreal “tiny planet” shot where the entire world wrapped around the camera.

If you’ve been eyeing Insta360’s Antigravity A1 drone with bated breath, now’s the time to set a reminder. Antigravity has dropped a teaser across its social channels, stamping a firm launch date on its debut drone: December 4, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. EST. That means the A1 is arriving nearly two months earlier than the previously expected January 2026 release.

DJI just beat the clock. With a potential US ban looming over its entire drone lineup, the company has managed to slip one more aircraft through the door. The Avata 360, DJI’s first drone that can shoot true 360° spherical video while flying like an FPV beast, has completed the testing and certification process with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The filing, covering two model numbers, lands just in time and signals DJI’s push to release at least one more major product before any import restrictions take effect.
