At $269, DJI Mini 3 drone costs less than many action cameras

Most people who think about buying a drone spend months talking themselves out of it. The drone they actually want feels too expensive. The cheap alternatives look questionable. And somewhere in the middle sits a long wish list of trips, sunsets, hikes, beaches, and family vacations they keep telling themselves they’ll capture “someday.” This Prime Day, DJI may have just removed the biggest excuse.

The DJI Mini 3 with the RC-N1 controller has dropped to just $269, down from $419. Better still, the bundle with DJI’s screen-equipped controller, Mini 3 (DJI RC), is now just $339 instead of $549. Those are some of the lowest prices we’ve seen on one of DJI’s most popular consumer drones.

What makes the deal interesting isn’t just the discount. It’s the fact that the Mini 3 remains one of the easiest drones to recommend in 2026.

For starters, it weighs less than 249 grams. That matters because it keeps the drone lightweight, travel-friendly, and simple for recreational users who don’t want extra hassle. Slip it into a backpack, carry-on, or day bag, and it’s ready whenever the view gets interesting. And that’s really where the Mini 3 shines.

This isn’t a drone that requires a film crew mindset. It’s built for ordinary people who want extraordinary footage. Whether you’re standing on a cliff in California, exploring a national park, road-tripping through the Southwest, or simply watching a sunset from your local beach, the Mini 3 turns moments that look great in person into footage that actually looks great later.

Its camera can shoot crisp 4K HDR video, while DJI’s stabilization technology keeps footage smooth even when conditions aren’t perfect. The drone also features a true vertical shooting mode, which sounds like a niche feature until you start posting videos online. Instead of awkwardly cropping footage for Instagram Reels, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts, the camera physically rotates to capture vertical content natively.

Battery life is another area where the Mini 3 continues to punch above its price class. While many entry-level drones leave pilots constantly watching the battery indicator, the Mini 3 gives enough flight time to explore, experiment, and still have time left for that one extra shot.

Then there are the features that first-time pilots rarely think about until they need them. Intelligent Return to Home, stable hovering, and DJI’s mature flight systems help remove much of the anxiety that comes with learning to fly.

That’s why the Mini 3 has remained relevant even as newer drones have arrived. It hits a sweet spot between affordability, image quality, portability, and ease of use that many competitors still struggle to match.

Of course, Prime Day deals don’t stick around forever. And while DJI discounts have become more common in recent years, seeing the Mini 3 drop to $269 feels different. That’s no longer “serious hobby” money. That’s “I was already spending that much on vacation gear” money.

For anyone who’s been waiting for the right moment to finally buy their first drone on a budget, DJI just made that decision a whole lot easier.
