After teasing the Osmo Pocket 4P at the Cannes Film Festival and quietly rolling it out across several Asian markets, DJI has finally announced a global launch date for its new dual-lens pocket gimbal camera. The company says the worldwide launch will take place on July 30 at 12 p.m. GMT.
For creators in the US, though, there’s still one big question mark: Will it actually go on sale in America? That uncertainty has become all too familiar for DJI fans. Over the past year, several of the company’s newest products have seen delayed availability in the United States, even as they launched on schedule across other global markets.
The Osmo Pocket 4P has already been available in China for several weeks. DJI then quietly expanded availability to several Asian markets, including Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, and Vietnam, giving buyers there early access to the company’s first-ever dual-lens pocket gimbal camera.
That regional rollout immediately sparked questions from creators elsewhere, especially in North America, where the camera has remained notably absent.
Now, DJI appears ready to take the next step with a coordinated global announcement. What remains unclear is whether “global” will actually include the United States from day one.
This launch has been anything but typical. Instead of revealing the product and opening preorders immediately, DJI first showcased the Pocket 4P during the Cannes Film Festival back in May, positioning it as a professional filmmaking tool rather than simply the next evolution of its popular Pocket lineup.
That early preview highlighted the camera’s cinematic ambitions while intentionally holding back pricing, configurations, and release dates — a marketing strategy that left many creators wanting more. Now, more than two months later, the full global unveiling is finally around the corner.
That said, DJI has not confirmed US availability, pricing, or preorder details. That’s consistent with several recent product launches, where American customers have either been left waiting without an official timeline or received products via third-party retailers.
The Pocket series has long been one of DJI’s most successful camera lines, giving creators stabilized, high-quality video in a package that literally fits in a pocket. The 4P represents the biggest leap yet.
Unlike previous Pocket cameras, the new flagship features a dual-lens design, headlined by a new 1-inch CMOS sensor, a dedicated 60mm portrait lens, up to 17 stops of dynamic range, and DJI’s new 10-bit D-Log 2 color profile aimed squarely at professional color grading workflows.
Those upgrades push the Pocket lineup well beyond traditional vlogging, targeting filmmakers, documentary creators, travel shooters, and anyone looking for cinema-grade footage without carrying a full-sized camera rig.
It’s worth mentioning that the standard Osmo Pocket 4 is available in the US through select third-party retailers. It offers a 1-inch CMOS sensor, a 3-axis mechanical gimbal, 4K recording, and DJI’s intelligent tracking features in a pocket-sized design.
