At a hearing today by the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee Subcommittee on Security, Brian Wynne, president and CEO of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), called for accelerated federal rulemakings and the development of holistic policy solutions that provide the framework to keep the nation’s skies secure.
During the AUVSI Xponential 2019 show, we had the chance to talk with three members of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. In the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, the North Carolina DoT turned to drones to make visible not only the storm damage but also the extensive flooding that took place in the state.

Call for entries opened for 2019 AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards. Apart from the Humanitarian Awards, AUVSI is calling for nominations in a number of categories, including six new ones. You can find all the details below. The submissions need to be in by February 6, 2019.
Last year, AUVSI and DJI held the inaugural XCELLENCE Humanitarian Awards during the AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2018 in Denver, CO. Five organizations that use drones for critical life-saving missions shared the award. This year DJI and AUVSI have teamed up again to kick off the second annual XCELLENCE Humanitarian Awards.
