DJI starts this week off with the introduction of the BROWN Spark mini-drone. In a partnership with LINE FRIENDS, the Chinese drone maker created a special version of their Spark drone mimicking the loveable bear.

At DroneDJ we have reviewed the Spark twice before – click here for Billy’s review and here for mine – and came away very impressed with the drone’s features and flight-characteristics. In our view, the Spark remains the best drone for people to get started in flying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s).
This new Spark version that mimics the loveable BROWN bear from LINE FRIENDS may be ideally suited for kids to get into to drone flying.
“DJI is excited to announce our character partnership with LINE FRIENDS, which shows DJI’s enthusiasm for making drones fun, accessible and relevant to more consumers,” said Monica Suk, Senior Communication Manager at DJI. “The DJI Spark earned its reputation as the smallest, yet powerful flying camera. It made flying a drone extremely easy, fun and more personalized.”
“Similar to other things we carry in our bags, a drone is becoming a lifestyle accessory. This special edition we are launching with LINE FRIENDS will take this concept even further and make storytelling and sharing exciting, and a part of our everyday life,” said Suk.
The Spark features a range of intelligent flight features that make the drone easy to launch from your hand (may not be advisable for kids!) and can be controlled with various hand gestures.
The Spark boasts a 16 minute flight time, has a range of 1.25 miles or 2 kilometers, can fly up to 31 mph and takes 12MP still photos and 1080p HD video footage.
The new BROWN edition is available for $399 at the four DJI Flagship Stores and store.dji.com for North America, China, Hong Kong and Korea markets starting today. A nice accessory to purchase with this drone would be DJI’s Portable Charging Station.
What do you think about the Spark BROWN edition? Is it the ideal kids’ drone or a clear sign that the Spark is on its last legs? Let us know in the comments below.
