About the DJI Smart Controller
The DJI Smart Controller was introduced during CES 2019. The device is a remote controller for the DJI Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom/Enterprise drones and features a very bright 5.5″ built-in display that allows you to fly your drone without the use of your smartphone. The DJI Smart Controller uses OcuSync 2.0 and also extends the range up to 5 miles (or 8 kilometers). The DJI Smart Controller also searches for the best signal strength and switches automatically to provide the strongest transmission signal.
The DJI Smart Controller provides a 4K 60p HDMI out to an external monitor or recording device. The controller can be fully charged in two hours and can be used for 2.5 hours before the batteries run out. It will operate in temperatures from minus 20 degrees Celsius (-4 F) to 40 degrees Celsius (104 F).
The controller can be bought in combination with one of the Mavic 2 drones for an additional $400 or separately for $649. Many people have commented that the DJI Smart Controller is on the expensive side. For professional drone operators, this device may be a must-have though.
