DJI Matrice 210 used for new drone-based inspection platform

Sulzer & Schmid is a Swiss tech company that uses the DJI Matrice 210 for a new drone-based wind turbine inspection platform. Their new 3DX HD product is based on the M210 drone and provides autonomous inspections at a lower cost compared with the company’s existing 3DXTM system, which is based on the DJI M600, according to the company.

Tom Sulzer, one of the co-founders said:

“Our technology produces high-definition image quality that is superior to any other inspection method. Our drone inspections offer a myriad of benefits: they are automated and therefore immune to human error, repeatable and consistent in quality while covering 100% of the blade. Most importantly, the fully digital end-to-end process creates a foundation for trend analysis and predictive maintenance.”

The company’s other co-founder Christof Schmid said:

“We are pleased to deliver a new solution that addresses our customers’ needs for high-volume and routine blade inspections. We always push the envelope by increasing automation in all steps of the inspection workflow and by increasing the robustness of our products. We also continue to expand our product range and we expect to launch our new offshore inspection solution later this year.”

We’re seeing more and more companies turning to drones for inspection work. Oftentimes the benefits that drones offer are not just time and money saved, but also making inspection work saver by not putting humans in dangerous situations.
