Venus Optics has released two new wide-angle Laowa lenses for DJI drones. Both lenses are super-compact and lightweight but promise sharp image quality and well-controlled distortion performance for extraordinary wide drone shots.
The new DL mounts additions by Venus include the ultra-wide 11mm f/4.5 FF RL and 14mm f/4 FF RL Zero-D full frame lens. The 11mm f/4.5 weighs only 206g with a 62mm filter thread while the 14mm weighs 186g with a 52mm filter thread. Both 11mm and 14mm lenses deliver an incredibly wide perspective, allowing DJI drone operators to capture dynamic landscapes and enormous skyscrapers with ease. But do know that they support only the manual focus mode.
The 11mm lens features an incredible 126° angle of view, which is the world’s widest rectilinear full-frame lens for DL users. The lens also includes two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements to guarantee sharpness and suppress chromatic aberrations and distortion to the minimum. The 14mm, meanwhile, features close-to-zero distortion(Zero-D) with a 114° angle of view.
Both lenses have a filter thread to provide user benefits to drone pilots. They can screw in the ND filters conveniently in different light conditions without extra filter holders, which also reduces the payloads of the drone.
The Laowa 11mm f/4.5 FF RL for DL Mount is available to buy for $549, and the Laowa 14mm f4 FF RL Zero-D for DL mount can be picked up for $449. The existing 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D lens for DJI drones is available in DL mount for $399.
Venus Optics has also added XCD mount to its popular medium format lenses including 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift, 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift, and 19mm f/2.8 Zero-D for Hasselblad users.
