Today, DJI has officially unveiled its third-generation DJI Dock, a drone-in-a-box solution for enterprise pilots. The notable feature this time around is the official support for vehicle mounting, allowing you to take your automation wherever you need to be.
DJI is out with a new product announcement, its third this month. This time coming from its enterprise division. DJI’s Dock 3, compatible with the new Matrice 3D and 3TD, is the latest generation in drone-in-a-box solutions from the drone tech leader.
Similar to the Dock 2, the Dock 3 features a built-in weather station, built-in RTK base station, and can be operated in temperatures as low as -22°F and as high as 122°F. The Dock 3 can be installed in remote locations as long as it has power and an internet connection to allow for remote flight operations.
DJI’s Dock systems are designed to fit into highly automated drone operations like inspections or security. However, the Dock 3 is the first drone-in-a-box solution to be specifically designed for installation on vehicles. The Dock 3 is small enough to allow for two Docks for dual-drone rotations.
“As the world’s most trusted solution for aerial operations in public safety and infrastructure maintenance, DJI continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible,” Christina Zhang, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI, said in a statement. “With DJI Dock 3, we’re proud to deliver innovative and reliable solutions that can flexibly adapt to the needs of operators on the ground.”
When mounted in a fixed position, the new RTK-3 Relay Fixed Deployment Version can be deployed for enhanced anti-interference for video transmission and satellite acquisition while out in the field.
New DJI Matrice 4 ‘Dock Versions’
Also similar to the Dock 2, the Dock 3 is tailored to use new custom versions of the Matrice 4 and 4T drones. These drones feature longer and fixed arms and charging ports compatible with the dock.
The Matrice 4D and 4DT have identical camera payloads to their non-dock counterparts. The Dock 3 joins the original DJI Dock, which is larger and supports the Matrice 30 drone.
Similar to other dock systems, the DJI Dock 3 is only available to order through DJI authorized dealers, and the price isn’t publicly disclosed.
