As we round the corner on March and prepare for spring to officially start in April, will the April showers bring not just flowers but also a Mavic 4 Pro? One leaker thinks so in his recent release of leaked test photos.
In his recent exposé on the Mavic 4 Pro, Jasper Ellens shared right at the end that his “best source” states the Mavic 4 Pro will be at least teased in the last week of April by DJI. This will likely come in the form of a release event posted to social media.
The last week of April is actually a half week, with April 30 landing on a Wednesday. This could mean DJI will tease the event on that Monday with the release coming Thursday, May 1. But that is just a guess based on previous events. DJI could also tease the event May 1 with the release scheduled for the following week.
The FCC filings have all been in place for some time now, leading many to sit and wait for any word on when the Mavic 4 Pro is coming, but so far it has been quiet outside of leaks.
With the leaks starting to pick up, it is likely that the details of the Mavic 4 Pro are complete and we’ll soon get full specs, pricing, and more from leakers in the coming weeks.
While the April comment was a short bit of Ellen’s piece, the main focus was on newly leaked images showing the Mavic 4 Pro’s zoom capabilities. We’ve already been tipped that the new flagship drone will come with 2.5x and 6x zoom lenses, slightly less than what was on the Mavic 3 Pro.
None of this is new, but seeing the same leak again strengthens its validity.
Sadly, however, we don’t have concrete evidence of what the equivalent focal lengths will be for each of the three cameras. The best guess we have is that they will be 24mm, 50mm, and 145mm, but those could change come release.
Usually, we’ll be able to tell what they are when leaked images of the front of the camera payload come out; however, it doesn’t look like that will be the case this year. In recent images leaked by Igor Bogdanov, the payload’s cameras don’t feature focal-length equivalents like previous models.
Igor was also able to share with us a size comparison between the Mavic 4 Pro and Mavic 3 Pro. While the angle isn’t perfect to tell where the Mavic 3 Pro is sitting on top of its bigger brother, it does show that the drone won’t be that much bigger, but it’s still large.
While the PTZ-looking payload sticks out greatly and the arms are much longer, it doesn’t seem to be much wider at the body. However, I don’t think you’ll be fitting this drone in the same backpacks or cases as the Mavic 3, at least without some serious rearrangement.
