Is the DJI Mavic 4 Pro still coming out this month?

It has been a quiet few weeks on the Mavic 4 Pro leak story, minus a few videos of the drone out in the wild, which are old news at this point. But the previously rumored release date should be near, right? I mean, we’ve only been waiting for this drone to finally hit store shelves for several months at this point. Well, I hate to break it to you, but it seems like you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer for DJI‘s new flagship camera drone.

hakasushi on X broke the news first, stating that the Mavic 4 Pro’s release date will be postponed to May 13, a delay of about two to three weeks based on previously rumored dates. Jasper Ellens was able to confirm the delayed release thanks to a leaked email between DJI and an early tester.

We don’t usually get to see these emails out in the wild, as it would break the tester’s NDA to share them. The email mostly states that the product they are testing is not public and they should not share any details publicly, which is hilarious, given it was leaked.

The program called the Early Product Experience Program is not a program I have ever heard DJI discuss publicly before. However, I would assume this is where most of our leaks come from, as it’s a chance for what looks to be non-DJI employees to early test new products ahead of release. This tester seems to be based in China, as they list the Mavic 4 Pro’s price to be 13,500 RMB (Chinese Yuan). That would come out to be about $1,849 USD, but don’t expect that to be the same price outside China; it is close.

The email states that the tester can purchase the Mavic 4 Pro test unit for 7,600 RMB ($1,041 USD), which is honestly a steal given how powerful a drone it is expected to be.

The part of the email that confirms the delay is the end of the trial date listed as May 11. By this point, the tester is expected to either return the drone or proceed with purchasing the product. May 11 lines up with a Sunday here in the US and is just two days before May 13, the rumored release date.

Tuesday is the preferred day DJI tends to release its products on.

No reason in the email or from leakers has been given for the new release date. It could be related to the current trade war between President Trump and China, which peaked at 125%. The confusion over what could come next and what is and isn’t excluded from tariffs has put many companies’ production plans in disarray. So DJI could just be hoping a delay would mean the war comes closer to an end by that point.

We’re still waiting on more substantial leaks from online retailers or these early testers to show off a complete list of specs for the Mavic 4 Pro. For now, we are mostly getting videos of it in flight or photos on testing tables, not yet showing anything new.

Stay tuned for the latest on when the Mavic 4 Pro will finally hit the shelves.
