GoPro unveils retro-style LIT HERO camera, smart AI gimbal

If GoPro’s MAX2 360° camera was intended to steal the headlines, the company made sure it didn’t overshadow its other surprises. Alongside the MAX2, GoPro has unveiled LIT HERO, a compact lifestyle camera with an integrated light, and Fluid Pro AI, a multi-device gimbal with AI subject tracking. These two new entries signal that GoPro is not just competing in the high-end 360 world but doubling down on creator tools across the board.

LIT HERO: A lifestyle cam with retro vibes

The LIT HERO feels like GoPro’s attempt to lighten up, quite literally. At just 93 grams, it’s one of the lightest cameras in the company’s lineup. Its standout feature is the built-in light, which allows shooting in conditions where most tiny cameras struggle. GoPro says the light not only helps in low-light settings but also adds a distinct “retro vibes” look to footage — more playful and textured compared to the sharpness of today’s smartphones.

Shooting in 4K at up to 60 frames per second, the LIT HERO doesn’t skimp on quality. Users can also slow things down with 2x slo-mo or switch to a 4:3 aspect ratio for immersive POV shots that easily crop into vertical videos for TikTok and Instagram Reels. For stills, the camera delivers 12-megapixel photos in the same 4:3 format, giving creators flexibility to crop for different social feeds.

Like any GoPro, durability is baked in. The LIT HERO is waterproof up to 16 feet (5 meters) and promises to take a beating whether you’re snowboarding, wake surfing, or just on a night out. Power-wise, its Enduro battery can push through more than 100 minutes of continuous recording at top settings on a single charge.

And it comes in at a relatively affordable $269.99, positioning it as a fun, grab-and-go camera for people who want GoPro toughness without the bulk. LIT HERO will hit the shelves on October 21.

Fluid Pro AI: A smart gimbal for multi-device creators

On the other end of the spectrum, GoPro’s Fluid Pro AI is all about stabilization and intelligent tracking. Unlike traditional gimbals made just for smartphones, this one is designed with flexibility in mind. Thanks to interchangeable mounts, it works with GoPro cameras, mobile phones, and even compact point-and-shoots weighing up to 400 grams.

The headline feature is its AI Subject Tracker. Whether the gimbal is facing forward or backward, it can lock onto a face or body and automatically keep the subject centered. That means solo creators don’t need a friend behind the camera — the gimbal does the job of tracking smoothly.

It’s not just about tracking, though. The Fluid Pro AI includes an integrated fill light, which helps balance scenes where lighting isn’t ideal, giving video a more professional polish. Battery life is impressive, with up to 18 hours of runtime, and the gimbal doubles as a power bank to top up your devices during long shoots.

Also scheduled for October 21 release alongside LIT HERO, GoPro Fluid Pro AI is priced competitively at $229.99, especially considering it can replace multiple gimbals for creators who regularly switch between devices.

A new era of GoPro products?

Taken together, the MAX 2, LIT HERO, and Fluid Pro AI suggest GoPro is pushing into new niches instead of sticking to action cams alone. The company is clearly aware of how content creation has changed: it’s not just about extreme sports anymore, but also about nightlife vlogs, quick social clips, and creators filming themselves without a crew. By offering a lightweight lifestyle cam and an AI-driven gimbal alongside its flagship 360 camera, GoPro seems intent on covering every type of creator — whether they’re filming ski runs, TikTok dances, or YouTube travel diaries.
