What could DJI be releasing next?

February was a packed month of various DJI product releases and updates, but what’s next on the horizon for the drone maker? Well, it might just be that—actual drones. Here’s what we’re expecting to release soon.

Mavic 4 Pro

The drone that is most likely to be in a near release is the Mavic 4 Pro, the company’s next-generation flagship camera drone. We’ve seen plenty of photos and even received confirmation of its existence with an FCC filing, but that was months ago. It seems like DJI really is taking its time to get this drone’s release right.

The Mavic 4 Pro will have a similar triple camera payload like the Mavic 3; however, the 4’s entire camera system appears to be much larger than before. No concrete specs have been released yet, so we’re not sure if this increased size is due to larger camera sensors or other upgrades to the camera system. One leak states that internal ND filters could come to the Mavic 4 Pro, which could be one reason for the larger payload size.

Release should be soon, but no leaks or rumors have made their way to DroneDJ for us to say with confidence if it will be released in March, April, or later. However, given that it seems mostly ready for release, an early spring release would make sense to get it into the hands of summer drone pilots.

Air 4 and Mini 5 Pro

It’s more likely than not that we’ll see new additions to DJI’s Air and Mini lineups in 2025. While the Air 3S is still fresh in our minds, we’ve seen our first leak of the potential Air 4 in early testing. We’re still likely far away from this drone seeing the light of day.

Mini 5 Pro leaks have picked up since December, meaning it could likely be the next camera drone DJI releases after the Mavic 4 Pro. While the Mini 3 to 4 upgrades were mostly focused on improving obstacle avoidance, the Mini 5 Pro could see some camera changes, a 1-inch sensor maybe? However, what is likely confirmed is the existence of forward (at least) LiDAR sensors for enhanced obstacle detection while flying.

Matrice 40?

Nothing has been shared about a successor to DJI’s medium-sized enterprise drone yet. However, I’ve learned over time that DJI Enterprise has a much better handle on keeping leaks at bay. They even have the chance to surprise us with a release from time to time.

The DJI Matrice 30, a new class of portable yet zero-compromise drones for first responders, hit the market in 2022. It was a game-changing drone for those in the enterprise space, small enough to fit into a packed squad car, but powerful enough to replace a helicopter.

Is there room for upgrade? DJI recently unveiled its Matrice 4 drones, matching some of the Matrice 30’s capabilities in a more compact package. The Matrice 40 will likely be a “flagship” line for DJI Enterprise, waiting for new and exciting improvements before releasing its next addition to the lineup. Furthermore, there are no “seasons” for enterprise products; they are usually released when they’re done, with no need to hit a holiday deadline. So unless something is leaked early, there’s no telling if or when a Matrice 30 replacement could be coming.

Inspire 4

Yeah, keep dreaming; maybe in a few more years.
