DJI Avata 360 drone launch delayed in US

DJI’s 360° drone launch may already be underway globally, but US buyers could be stuck waiting. A newly updated banner on DJI’s official Amazon US storefront now points to March 30 at 8 a.m. EST as the release timing for its upcoming DJI Avata 360 drone, subtly overriding the March 26 worldwide launch window.

The most logical explanation? Orders may be going live in other parts of the world later today, while US sales or preorders won’t begin until March 30 — a pattern that’s becoming increasingly common for DJI launches in the US because of regulatory scrutiny and import hurdles. It’s also likely Avata 360 will come to the US market through third-party suppliers, as has been the case with most new DJI products.

In any case, while global buyers might get immediate access to Avata 360 via DJI’s own store or international retailers, the Amazon banner strongly hints that US customers will join the party a few days later.

At this point, multiple leaks, official teasers, and industry chatter paint a fairly clear picture of what the Avata 360 could bring. Think true 360° capture with dual large sensors (possibly 1-inch class); 8K 360 video at up to 60fps HDR, enabling full reframing flexibility; a 2-in-1 shooting system: traditional FPV plus immersive 360 mode; upgraded battery for longer flight times; potential replaceable lens modules; and compatibility with DJI’s FPV ecosystem. Pricing leaks have been all over the place, but they’re starting to converge:

  • ~$499–$500 for the base drone
  • ~$900–$1,200 for full bundles with goggles and controllers
  • Some European listings suggest ~$1,000 for Fly More combos

That positions DJI Avata 360 as a premium, but not outrageous, flagship, especially if it delivers true 8K 360 capture. In the meantime, DJI has cut Avata 2 prices by as much as $340, turning its current FPV drone with 155-degree FOV into a “no-brainer deal” for many buyers. Avata 2 deals now start for as low as $526 with goggles and a controller.

The bottom line? If you’re outside the US, you might already be able to order the Avata 360 today. If you’re in the US, though, that Amazon banner is a clear signal: March 30 is likely when things officially begin.
