The next product in DJI’s Power lineup, the DJI Power 2000, has appeared in the FCC database. While details about its features are still limited, the launch is expected to occur soon, as the FCC listing typically signals an imminent release.
The DJI Power 2000 just became public in the FCC database, a requirement for companies whose products feature wireless transmission, something I don’t remember seeing for its predecessors. This could mean the Power 2000 could feature remote functions in the form of an app to monitor battery life and charging rates.
However, it’s important to know that FCC database listings, while they have always proven true that the product is coming, have been limiting in information. That goes for the DJI Power 2000’s listing as well. All we have is the product name and some company contact information. The FCC application does list the Power 2000 under the “A4” category, which clears it for the use of low-power transmission like WiFi or Bluetooth.
Given the name, the DJI Power 2000 will likely hold up to 2,048 Wh of capacity and be quite a bit larger than the Power 1000. Given the potential for remote access, this will likely be marketed more towards van-life customers who could set this up to be their all-in-one power solution.
DJI shocked a good portion of the community with the release of the DJI Power 1000 and 500 last year. Featuring full-sized AC outlets, USB-C and A ports, and options for solar panels for recharging, the company’s entrance into the portable battery market was on. Competing with the likes of BLUETTI, Jackery, and others, it seemed like DJI was hoping to use its drone market power to get a good foothold in the industry.
That’s pretty much what happened. While the Power 1000 and 500 might be small for those looking for house battery backups or to be able to power full operations remotely for an entire day, they did work great for drone pilots who wanted to charge their batteries out in the field. Then, when needed, they could be used for all your power needs for the occasional camping trip.
DJI released the DJI Power Expansion Battery 2000 at the end of last year to better position the brand as a serious competitor for those needing more capacity. The DJI Power 2000 will likely help make this point even stronger.
While FCC listings have usually meant the release of a product is soon, the Mavic 4 Pro‘s listing has thrown that all into question. So while I expect a release in the coming months now that it’s out in the public, it could just as well be much longer.
Meanwhile, both the Power 1000 and Power 500 have experienced significant discounts, suggesting that DJI may be preparing to release updated models with similar features alongside the Power 2000.
