The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) launches a new Drone Safety Tips video on Facebook. The short clip starts off with the question: “Getting a drone? Before you fly, register it at faadronezone.faa.gov.” you can watch the entire clip here below as well as two videos from 51Drones, who did a great job explaining the registration process on YouTube.
FAA launches new Drone Safety Tips video
The FAA’s new Drone Safety Tips video starts off with the question: “Getting a drone?” And then informs you right away to register your drone at www.faadronezone.faa.gov. before you fly! Display the FAA-issued registration number on an outside surface of the aircraft.
The Drone Safety Tips video also delves into the rules that apply to you when you fly a drone in the United States of America and urges you to fly your drone safely.
Here are the rules as explained in the video:
- Fly your drone at or below 400 feet
- Keep your drone within your line of sight
- Be aware of FAA Airspace restrictions
- Respect others’ privacy
- Never fly near other aircraft
- Never fly over groups of people or public events
- Never fly near emergencies such as wildfires of hurricane recovery efforts
- Never fly under the influence of drugs or alcohol
The Drone Safety Tips video ends with the message that:
“A drone is an aircraft and you ae its pilot. Learn more at faa.gov.uas.”
51Drones does a terrific job explaining how and where to register your drone in this video. Keep in mind that the new FAA rule comes into effect on February 25th and NOT on the 23rd as the FAA earlier had mentioned.
