BOOM! DJI goes out with a bang this week! Three FCC filings were just made public, and they show that DJI will release an FPV drone, goggles, and a remote controller. Finally, it seems that the world’s largest drone maker is entering the FPV drone racing scene.
DJI will release FPV drone, goggles, and remote control
Even though we haven’t yet seen a new DJI Phantom 5 or a DJI Spark 2, today’s news may actually be almost as exciting.
According to these FCC filings, it seems that DJI will be releasing three new products shortly, and together they might make an awesome DJI FPV drone racing package.
The three FCC filings for new DJI products are:
- FCC ID SS3-P1AS1901 — DJI FPV Air Unit P1AS1901
- FCC ID SS3-P1RC1901 — DJI FPV Remote Controller P1RC1901
- FCC ID SS3-P1GS1902 — DJI FPV Goggles P1GS1902
We don’t have any specs or images yet, but we will be going through these filings and seeing what we can come up with, so stay tuned!
Of course, this is not the first time DJI has brushed up against the FPV drone racing world. A few years ago, DJI released the DJI Goggles Racing Edition that would allow you to connect to various FPV racing drones and view the action from an FPV (First Person View). However, many people always felt that the DJI Goggles RE were a bit bulky and heavy compared to, for instance, FatShark’s goggles. So it will be very interesting to see if the new DJI FPV Goggles will be lighter, smaller, and more competitive overall. And, of course, we hope that the same will apply for the DJI FPV Racing Drone and DJI Remote Control.
Stay tuned. We hope to have more news soon!
