DJI FPV Drone Stories November 27
The new DJI digital FPV system is an absolute game-changer for anyone interested in drone racing or flying acro. The crystal-clear video is light years better than the absolute best analog system on the market. But is it worth the hefty price tag? The DJI Black Friday Sale just dropped the prices on their goggle kits by $130.
While the DJI Digital FPV Fly More package still isn’t cheap, starting at $779, it is a significant savings from the original $929. Should you invest in DJI or should you stick with analog? What about people looking to break into the FPV hobby? Should they consider DJI? expand full story

If you’re an FPV drone racer and are considering the new DJI FPV system, check out this video on YouTube from Heart of America FPV. In the 10-minute video, he explains the benefits of DJI’s new system and some of the issues you might run into when using it for indoor FPV drone racing. One of the benefits he’s really excited about is not having to deal with multipath video interference anymore.

Here’s DJI’s official press release of their new DJI Digital FPV Ecosystem. We had a chance to see it for ourselves yesterday at the Seaview Rotary Wings RC Helicopter Club, and also spoke with Ferdinand Wolf, creative director of DJI Europe, about this new system and the implications for drone racing. One of the things he pointed out is that currently, it is very hard for the audience of a larger drone racing event to follow the action from onboard one of the competing drones. The analog FPV footage quality is simply not good enough for people in the audience to see what is happening and where the competition is. DJI Digital FPV Transmission System could change that. The HD signal from the racing drones can be shared, i.e., displayed on a large screen or viewed from a pair of goggles. You may still experience a bit of motion sickness when viewing the fast-paced action of an FPV racing drone, but the video quality is so much better that most people will have no problem understanding what they’re seeing. We at DroneDJ are very excited about this new technology that DJI is bringing to the market today. There’s only one question left to answer: Where is the DJI FPV drone? More on that later today.
Today, DJI officially introduces its new DJI Digital FPV Transmission System with low latency and HD video, and it will improve your drone racing. It consists of the DJI FPV goggles, the DJI FPV remote controller, and the DJI FPV air unit Transmission Module that attaches to the DJI FPV camera. We first learned about these new DJI products when the FCC filings were made public last week. The DJI FPV Transmission System is available as of today with two bundle options: the FPV Fly More Combo for $929 and the FPV Experience Combo for $819.

With the recent FCC filing for a pair of FPV goggles, remote, and a new drone it is pretty apparent that DJI is going to be releasing an FPV drone in the near future. However, diving deep into the FCC filing points to DJI not releasing a drone, but rather an ‘Air Unit’ that will possibly enhance current and future race drones. But this FCC filing doesn’t tell the whole story. DJI would be foolish NOT to release a drone alongside this new DJI Air Unit. And I think they will, but what kind of drone will it be? I have some theories. expand full story
