DJI introduces next-generation Agras agricultural drones globally

DJI is expanding its precision agriculture lineup with the global debut of two new farming drones: the Agras T55 and the Agras T100 Dual Battery Spraying System. Designed for everything from orchards and small farms to large-scale field operations, the new aircraft build on more than a decade of DJI Agriculture’s research and aim to make aerial spraying, spreading, and lifting more efficient while improving safety.

The launch comes as agricultural drones continue to gain traction around the world, helping farmers reduce labor, apply crop treatments more precisely, and cut down on unnecessary chemical use. DJI says more than 600,000 of its agricultural drones are now operating globally, treating roughly 300 crop types across more than 100 countries.

According to Yuan Zhang, DJI Agriculture’s head of global sales, the company sees drone technology as an important tool for helping farmers improve productivity while reducing agriculture’s environmental footprint. Zhang also highlights the company’s growing global support network, which now includes more than 3,500 service and repair centers along with over 7,000 certified instructors.

Agras T55 focuses on flexibility and safety

The new Agras T55 is designed as a versatile workhorse that can handle spraying, spreading, and lifting with a relatively straightforward setup process.

For spraying, it carries up to 50 liters of liquid and delivers flow rates of up to 50 liters per minute when equipped with mist sprinklers. Switching to spreading duties, the drone can carry up to 55 kilograms of material and distribute it at rates of up to 400 kilograms per minute.

DJI has also introduced a new lift system that supports payloads up to 40 kilograms. Features like Auto Balance Control and an Emergency Cable Release are intended to improve stability and safety during lifting operations.

Perhaps the biggest upgrade, however, is in the drone’s obstacle detection system. The Agras T55 features an all-new millimeter-wave radar capable of generating point cloud data at up to 250,000 points per second, giving it a much more detailed view of its surroundings. DJI says updated hardware and software algorithms allow the system to continue operating reliably even in challenging conditions such as rain and fog.

The drone also remembers previously detected obstacles, allowing it to avoid them more effectively during future flights.

Operators should also have a much better view of their surroundings thanks to a new quad-camera vision system. It combines three top-mounted cameras with a low-light, full-color FPV camera, providing visibility in front, behind, to both sides, and beneath the aircraft.

Agras T100 targets large-scale operations

While the T55 emphasizes versatility, the new Agras T100 Dual Battery Spraying System is aimed squarely at larger commercial farming operations where maximizing productivity is the priority.

Its headline feature is a dual intelligent battery setup that DJI says increases hover time by 50% while carrying the same payload, allowing operators to stay in the air longer before needing to recharge.

The spraying system carries a 90-liter tank in dual-battery mode, reducing downtime and making it better suited for covering large fields efficiently.

The T100 also introduces dual-atomized centrifugal sprinklers, enabling faster flight speeds and wider spray coverage without sacrificing application quality. Farmers working in orchards can also add an optional mist sprinkler kit, which is designed to improve penetration through dense tree canopies and reach the undersides of leaves — areas that can be difficult to treat using conventional methods.

Beyond spraying, the aircraft can also take on other farm tasks. In its standard single-battery configuration, it supports spreading with a 150-liter capacity at rates up to 400 kilograms per minute, while its lifting system can handle payloads of up to 80 kilograms.

Global rollout underway

Both the Agras T55 and the Agras T100 Dual Battery Spraying System are launching globally, although availability and pricing will vary depending on the country and region. DJI says interested buyers should check with authorized DJI Agriculture dealers for local availability.

While these specialized agricultural drones aren’t intended for hobbyists, the launch underscores DJI’s continued investment in commercial drone applications. As precision agriculture becomes increasingly important to improving yields while reducing waste, the company’s latest Agras models are designed to give farmers more capable tools for managing crops at every scale.
