This morning we woke up to new drawings of the rumored DJI Inspire 3, as well as an expansion of the Zenmuse cameras with the X6, X7s, and X8. The Inspire 3 is expected to be introduced towards the end of this year and we assume that the cameras will be part of that same announcement. The DJI Inspire drone and cameras are aimed at the professional drone market with prices for the Inspire 2 starting out at $2,999, but that can easily reach $10,000 once you add a high-quality camera and lenses. The DJI Inspire Cinema Premium Combo package tops out at an eye-watering $20,179. We expect pricing to be in the same range (maybe even higher) for the upcoming Inspire 3.

Many new drones for DJI in 2018
2018 promises to be a very busy year for DJI with new products expected for their entire line up of drones. The year started out with the launch of the new and very well received DJI Mavic Air. Recently rumors have been heating up around a possible launch of the Spark 2 and Mavic Pro II (or Mavic Pro 2?) early this spring. A new Phantom 5 sometime later this year and a new Inspire 3 in November. If all these new drones make it to market in 2018, this may prove to be DJI’s busiest year ever in terms of new products launched.
The latest drawings of the DJI Inspire 3
Almost all early rumors of new DJI products start with twitter account @OsitaLV, leading some people to believe that DJI purposely leaks information through him. Whether this is true or not, we don’t know but what we do know, is that OsitaLV’s drawings have been very accurate in the past. So let’s take a look at his latest drawings of the DJI Inspire 3.
The drawings of the DJI Inspire 3 suggest a very similar form factor to the current Inspire 2. There is no new information on whether the Inspire 3 will have rear-facing obstacle avoidance sensors or APAS. All the information we get this time is focussed on the photo/video specs of the drone but they are quite a step up from the Inspire 2 in terms of image quality and processing power. No information though on 4K @ 60fps or HD @ 120fps.
Here are the photo/video specs:
- 8K video @ 30fps
- CinemaDNG
- 6K video @ 30fps
- Apple ProRes
- H.265/H.264 @ 200Mbps

- PIV (particle image velocimetry)
- 20 fps continuous burst

New Zenmuse X6, X7s, and X8 cameras
The drawings also include information about an entirely new Zenmuse camera product line with the new X6 being very similar to the current X5s and the rumored X7s seemingly offering an improved dynamic range of 15EV instead of 14EV for the current X7. The Zenmuse X8 would be in a class of its own with a 40MP Full Frame sensor. No information was offered if DJI will introduce its own lenses for the X8, like they did with the Zenmuse X7 camera and lenses.
