Today, Transport Canada granted the first certificate for beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) for special flight drone operations to MVT Geo-solutions, in partnership with Iris Automation, using only onboard detect-and-avoid (DAA).
Drone test flights beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) have been taking place in the US for some time. Now India is about to join with its own BVLOS drone test flights in near the future. This means that India will be getting long-range drone flights to deliver goods and possibly emergency supplies to hard to reach communities.
Slowly but surely, routing drone deliveries as once predicted by Jeff Bezos from Amazon are becoming a reality. Making beyond visual line of sight drone operations commonplace is a big step in that direction and in the UK, the Civil Aviation Authority just made a big announcement. See below for details.
