Hoverfly Spectre drone secures top Green UAS certification for cybersecurity

The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) has awarded Green UAS certification to Hoverfly Technologies’ Spectre drone. This makes Spectre the first tethered drone to meet strict cybersecurity and supply chain standards under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Spectre’s certification places it on AUVSI’s Green UAS list, alongside the Defense Innovation Unit’s (DIU) Blue UAS list.

US government agencies, public safety agencies, and private industry conducting sensitive aerial missions can now refer to new guidance before purchasing any drones. The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and the Pentagon’s Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) have released a memo with procurement guidance and recommendations for security-focused drones. The development comes at a time when a bill proposing to ban DJI drones is expected to move in Congress amid data security concerns.

New AUVSI, DIU initiative to enhance drone cybersecurity

The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) says it has signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Pentagon’s Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). The agreement establishes a pathway for drone component manufacturers with Green UAS certification to directly share their data with DIU. The goal is to potentially incorporate Green-certified components onto DIU’s Blue UAS Framework list.

Green UAS: New program to vet commercial drones for security

The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) has unveiled Green UAS, a new cybersecurity and supply chain risk assessment program for commercial drones. The program’s framework closely mirrors the Pentagon tech hub Defense Innovation Unit’s Blue UAS model. But it is aimed at those government and nongovernment users who do not immediately require Department of Defense (DoD) authority to operate commercial drones.
